Good Food on The GOODista website illustrated by fruits and logo.Roasted nuts and snacks belong to parties. In the festive season you want them spicy, honey coated, tangy, sweet and savoury. This recipe is super easy, and so much nicer than anything shop-bought. It takes no time to go nuts for these nuts! Enjoy, comment and share with friends. The more the merrier especially when it comes to parties, nuts and festive sparkle!

Roasted Nuts: Go Nuts for Nuts

When the festive season is in full swing, winter is normally full-on too — if you live in the Northern Hemisphere. This means that you need to think about how to cater for your winter wellness. By adding nuts and seeds to your everyday life you add serotonin, and Vitamin D. The food mood connection is strong, and nuts in particular give you a boost of healthy living goodness.

Of course, nuts in themselves taste great, but if you spice them up a bit, or take them along on a honey coated, or savoury ride - they become the perfect snack or accompaniment to all sorts of dishes.

Roasted nuts taste great, and when you but them raw from a market stall like in this picture they become even better when done at home.

Go Nuts for Nuts!

The recipe below is easy, and takes no time at all to put together. If you are lucky enough to be able to buy raw nuts from a market (or well-stocked health-shop) you give yourself an extra star in the health score too.

Everyone loves to snack and nibble at a party. Nuts are a given at any festive occasion, and I am sure you already know which ones you like best. I take my nuts down spicy / savoury route, and when needed for sweeter occasions I add honey.

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon of Paprika sweet
  • 2 teaspoon salt himalaya salt is very good!
  • 2 teaspoon honey

Instructions

Roasting Nuts

  • Heat your oven to 200 degrees celsius
  • Place your mixed nuts on grease proof paper
  • Sprinkle over the spices and move the tray so they blend nicely.
  • Drizzle the honey over all the nuts.
  • Place the oven tray in the oven for about 3 minutes, and then check to see that they are starting to roast, and use a fork to mix them carefully so the honey and spices marry together.
  • After approx 5 minutes check again, They should be golden and 'bubbly'.
  • Take them out to cool completely.
  • Serve up and munch away!

Notes

These nuts can be taken in any direction you want, and if you prefer rosemary and salt, or saffron and cardamon, or sesame and wasabi — add that. It is important to drizzle a bit of honey so the spice bend sticks to the nuts. Enjoy!
